Humans of SLU: A Visual Ethnography of the St. Lawrence Community

During the summer of 2013, I was awarded a fellowship to complete a research project under the mentorship of Dr. Jill Talbot, modeled after Brandon Stanton’s popular Humans of New York project. Each day, I found a random person on our campus to photograph and interview, which I then posted (with permission) on a public Facebook and Tumblr page.

The final product of this project was a 30 minute YouTube documentary, which can be found here.

Though my skills in photography and cinematography are fairly amateur, I was more interested in capturing small, uplifting stories about what it means to be part of our campus community. The project has since been taken over by other students.
